Julie Fitz-Gerald is more than a busy mom of two active teenage boys.
She is an author, freelance journalist and editor who loves researching, interviewing and writing about diverse topics that matter to her. Whether the medium is a book, magazine article, broadcast or speaking engagement, Julie is driven to share how ordinary people are breaking boundaries, beating the odds and achieving their goals.
Julie discovered her passion for writing as a lanky nine-year-old entering her first story into the grade-four literary guild. In high school, she combined her curious nature with her passion for the written word and found journalism.
She soon swapped the hayfields of her hometown for the hustle and bustle of Toronto, Ontario, home to Ryerson University and its acclaimed School of Journalism. Here, Julie honed her craft and became a full-fledged journalism junkie.
After completing her Bachelor of Journalism degree, she spent five years navigating the world of documentary production before going back to her roots: writing and country living. Swapping the hectic city for hayfields once more, she now lives in small-town Ontario with her family, including a very opinionated dog named Leo.
Julie is the author of the best-seller “RISE: The Jessica Phoenix Story.” Her newest book, “Faith to Rise: A Journey to Joy and Centering,” along with its companion journal, is pacing to be a best-seller. She is also the host of a popular radio series by the same name.
Julie is an inspiration to working moms everywhere, balancing family, community and her passion for people and writing into a successful career. She thrives on connecting with others, hosting journaling workshops for busy women in need of nourishment and leading a weekly group at her local church.
Julie is a remarkable public speaker, connecting with her audience with words from the heart that are authentic, inspiring and up-lifting, encouraging those around her to RISE.
